What we handle

The application

We prepare your full application in TABC's online system (AIMS) from your answers and documents. You review it and sign; then we file.

The steps around it

We place the newspaper notice, tell you what TABC's outdoor sign must say, and lay out the city, county and Comptroller sign-offs in order.

TABC's follow-up

We answer TABC's requests and track the application until TABC decides, with an email at each step.

How it works

  1. Take the 4-question check

See your permit, TABC's fee and our price. Free, no signup.

  2. Pay and send owner details

Owner information goes through a secure signing link, never email.

  3. Approve, and we file

You approve the application before it's filed. We handle TABC until it decides.

Why PermitWell

Jon Kim, Founder, PermitWell, Dallas, Texas

My family has run bar-and-grill restaurants in North Texas for over 30 years. Getting their alcohol permits meant shopping around for help. PermitWell is the service I wanted for them: your permit, TABC's fee and one flat price upfront, then the filing handled for you.

You deal with me directly, by email, from your check to TABC's decision.

Quotes we got in October 2026 for the same filing: one Texas licensing consultant, $1,500 per location; one Texas law firm, $5,000 flat. TABC's state fee and local fees apply either way.

Questions

Can I do this myself?

Yes. TABC's AIMS system is open to owners. We handle the application, the notice and TABC's follow-up questions so you don't have to learn the system.

What does it cost in total?

Our flat fee, plus TABC's state fee for your permit, any city or county fee and the newspaper's charge for the notice. Your check shows each one for your permit. You pay TABC directly; no hourly billing.

Buying an existing bar or restaurant?

Texas permits don't transfer to a new owner, so you need your own, even at a licensed location. Same check, same flat fee.

How long does it take?

We file within 3 business days of your signed forms and documents. At a location not licensed before for drinks on site, Texas requires TABC's sign to be up 60 days before the permit can be issued. After that, TABC sets the pace; we email you at each step.

Are you a law firm?

No. PermitWell is not a law firm and doesn't give legal advice. We prepare and file the application from your answers; you review, sign and certify it. Zoning, protests and legal questions go to an attorney.

What if my location can't qualify?

Full refund before we file. If the application is protested after filing, we refund the part of the fee for work not yet done.

How do you handle owner details like SSNs?

TABC asks for them on its forms. You enter them in BoldSign, a secure e-signature service, never by email, and they're deleted after filing.

Are you part of TABC?

No. PermitWell is an independent service, not affiliated with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
